Abstract:
The novelty and scientific originality. The research adopts a sector case-study design built on secondary quantitative data drawn from the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova, FAOSTAT, UN Comtrade, Eurostat, the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service, the National Bank of Moldova and the World Organisation for Animal Health, complemented by an interpretive analysis of policy and disease-surveillance reports. Price series are analysed descriptively and through the lens of three economic frameworks: the cobweb (hog-cycle) theorem, price-transmission and the law of one price, and a market-risk decomposition distinguishing systematic from idiosyncratic shocks. Theoretical importance of the work. The thesis contributes an integrated diagnostic of the sector's price formation and a concrete institutional proposal: a staged price-transparency architecture progressing from a published national reference-price index toward a regional spot and forward contract platform, modelled on established agricultural exchanges.
