dc.description.abstract Energy consumption in buildings accounts for around 50% of the total energy consumption in the country. Most of the energy is used for heating. The Republic of Moldova aims to ensure energy transition and achieve climate neutrality by 2050. This is also the European Union objective to which the Republic of Moldova has aligned itself. Achieving this objective requires major efforts, especially investment. Today, in the Republic of Moldova, only in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti there are centralized systems for providing thermal energy. In the rest of the district centers, these are practically absent, and consumers heat their spaces very inefficiently. The paper presents the results of the analysis on the development of centralized systems in district centers (32 districts) based on the use of hybrid cogeneration installations, including renewable energy sources. The sizing of centralized systems was carried out based on several indicators, one of which is the possible spaces to be connected to the centralized system. The paper also presents the economic aspects, as well as the impact of the development of centralized systems on reducing fossil fuel consumption. en_US
