dc.description.abstract In the period 2022-2025, the Republic of Moldova has stimulated the development of renewable energy sources quite a lot. The state has made available 3 support schemes for those who wish to develop installations for generating electricity from renewable sources (eRES). Following the stimulation provided by the state through the support schemes, but also the essential increase in electricity tariffs as a result of the energy crisis, consumers have massively developed renewable sources for electricity production (especially photovoltaic and wind installations). In just 3 years, the installed capacity of eRES has exceeded 670 MW, of which 450 MW are photovoltaic (PV) installations. It is worth noting that over 30% of this capacity is for the net metering/net billing support scheme. The massive growth of PV installations began to cause problems during the summer, when the eRES capacity equaled and even exceeded the country's consumption load. The article analyzes the possibility of installing electricity storage batteries for household consumers who have installed PV installations, their optimal sizing depending on the consumption curve profile, the economic advantages. This leads to a decrease in losses in the local network and an increase in the benefits of the owner of the storage installation. en_US
