Abstract:
This article is the first of its kind to analyze the educational curricula, active for the year 2023-2024, of computer science specialties in eight public and private higher education institutions in the Republic of Moldova, in order to determine the programming paradigms studied in the courses offered to students currently pursuing their bachelors degrees. The main focus of the study is on verifying the existence of a possible bias between the teaching of functional programming and object-oriented programming paradigms. The data was gathered by careful investigation of online curriculum sheets and catalogues present on the official university webpages to obtain a result that confirmed the hypothesis of functional programming being less commonly studied within the borders of the country
