Agrobiological study of lettuce hybrids (Lactuca Sativa L.) in hydroponic culture

Agrobiological study of lettuce hybrids (Lactuca Sativa L.) in hydroponic culture
NOVAC, Tatiana; STRÂMBANU, Tudor
The aim of this research was to evaluate the agrobiological performance of several lettuce hybrids grown in a hydroponic system Nutrient Film Technique (NFT). The study included six lettuce hybrids known for their high potential in hydroponic cultivation, all from the Rijk Zwaan breeding portfolio. Barlach is a red-leaf Butterhead type, Sungari is a red-leaf Crystal type, Dunand is a dark green Crystal type, Rictus is a dark green Romaine type, and Exact is a Frisée type with deeply incised and curled light green leaves. The research was conducted in the hydroponic greenhouse of the GreenBioHub complex, within the experimental sector of the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry and Environmental Sciences. The NFT system used was a recirculating Nutrient Film Technique setup, which includes slightly inclined gullies through which a thin film of nutrient solution continuously flows.

The directions and trends of development of protected ground structures at the present stage are robotic greenhouses, nanotechnology, interactive environment, sensor and LED systems, development of cannabis growing technologies, etc. The development of the above directions is facilitated by the fact that large greenhouse complexes have exhausted their resource for further technological and technical development. Such an organization of greenhouse production suffers from large energy and financial losses and poses a serious problem for the environment. The possibilities of vertical greenhouses have been experimentally studied, as well as one of the elements of the pyramid greenhouse – multi-tiered narrow-rack hydroponics. Theoretical studies of sixth-generation greenhouses are being conducted – advanced technological and engineering systems of fully closed greenhouses. Or those in which regulation and changes in microclimate parameters occur using the reserves of the greenhouse's internal space. Without the involvement of external factors.

The paper refers to the influence of tree pruning on vegetative growth, harvest and fruit quality of the Kordia cherry cultivar grafted onto the MaxMa 14 rootstock. Investigations at SRL "StarAgro Group" (Ustia village, Criuleni district) were organized in the central fruit-growing area of the Republic of Moldova, with the Kordia cultivar, grafted onto the Maxima 14 rootstock. The vegetative growth of the trees in the cherry variety under study is expressed, in quantitative terms, by the volume of vegetative growth accumulated annually through the height and width of the tree crown, through the size of the surface and volume of the crown, as well as the level of soil coverage by the vegetative ensemble of the trees. The cherry variety, Kordia, grafted on the MaxMa 14 rootstock, had yields from 18.10 kg/tree where pruning was performed during the dormant period, to 19.78 kg/tree in the variant where pruning was performed in early autumn.

The impact of the cultivation system on the yield and quality of sweet cherries
BALAN, Valerian; VĂMĂȘESCU, Sergiu; BUZĂ, Corneliu; TALPALARU, Dumitru; RUSSU, Stanislav
The goal of this study, which was conducted between 2010 and 2022, was to evaluate the impact of the variety-rootstock association, the crown shape and the planting distance on the production and quality parameters of sweet cherries. Stationary experiments have been carried out using diverse sweet cherry varieties, such as Valerii Cikalov, Record, Ferrovia, Kordia, Regina, Stella, Skeena, Bigarreau Burlat, Lapins, grafted on Cerasus mahaleb, L. and Gisela-6 rootstocks, in various combinations, and which have been planted at diverse planting distances. The trees grafted on the Cerasus mahaleb, L., rootstock have shown rapid growth and an average fruit yield of 15.58-16.12 t/ha during the period of their full productivity. The harvest of the trees grafted on the Gisela 6 and MaxMa 14 rootstocks has been early and amounted to 12.50-14.58 t/ha. The varieties Bigarro Burlat, Ferrovia and Lapins, planted at a distance of 5 x 1.5 m, have given a yield of 17.98-20.07 t/ha, which is 12.2-24.9% higher than that of the trees which have been planted at a distance of 4 x 2.5 m.
