This paper presents an overview of the prospects for the use of agricultural wood residues, specific to the climatic zone adjacent to the Prut River and the qualitative characteristics of densified solid biofuels in the form of pellets produced from the main types of the agricultural wood biomass, taken from agricultural plantations in the Republic of Moldova and Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui and Galați counties in Romania. The aim of the paper is to establish the energy potential of the main indigenous agricultural wood residues and to analyze the quality of the pellets produced from these residues. The research results showed that the pellets produced from the studied agricultural residues mainly meet ENPlus 3 requirements for most qualitative parameters, except for those produced from blackberry and currant residues. Residues from the prunning of some types of fruit shrubs can be used to produce pellets by creating mixtures of different proportions, and their qualitative characteristics can be significantly improved by thermo-chemical pre-treatment of the raw material.

Influence of ecological conditions on the physiological parameters of leaves and the productivity of the grapevine Bianca variety

Influence of ecological conditions on the physiological parameters of leaves and the productivity of the grapevine Bianca variety
DERENDOVSKAIA, Antonina; GRIBCOVA, Аnna
Environmental factors greatly influence grape quality. Grapes are a plastic plant, characterized by high responsiveness to changing environmental factors. The vineyard was divided vertically into three sites (lower, middle and upper) and other yield and quality parameters were recorded. The influence of relief elements (the exposure of the slopes and the location of bushes on them) on the morphological and physiological parameters and productivity of the Bianca variety bushes was investigated in the conditions of the Central Viticulture Zone of the Republic of Moldova. It was established that the parameters of the photosynthetic activity of the leaves - the content of plastid pigments and the induction of chlorophyll fluorescence (ChlFI) change in ontogenesis. It was presented, that the concentration of plastid pigments in the leaves increases during the flowering and growth phases of berries and decreases during the ripening phase. The level of chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids in the leaves varies, depending on the exposure of the slope and the location of bushes on them. It increases on the slopes of the SW and W exposures, compared with the NE, especially when growing in the lower, less lit areas of the slopes. At the same time, changes in the parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence induction (ChlFI) in the leaves of the Bianca variety were studied in connection with their adaptation to changing environmental conditions, which can be used for monitoring the physiological state of grape plants when they grow on the slopes of different exposures.

The productivity and quality of new apple varieties depending on the biological characteristics of the variety in the conditions of the Republic of Moldova
BILICI, Inna; BALAN, Petru
This paper deals with new apple varieties grown in the Republic of Moldova, namely in the experimental orchards of the Elite Fruit Ltd and the Spica-N Agro Farm Cooperative. A continuous increase of efficiency in modern cropping systems, i.e. early fruiting and short exploitation time, can be achieved by introducing highly productive varieties from the world collection and knowing the natural potential of a horticultural zone and the cultivation technology. The Granny Smith, Gala Delicious, Gala Buckeye Simmons, Golden Delicious, Golden Delicious Reinders, Red Velox and Fuji Kiku apple varieties, grafted on the M9 rootstock and used in high-density orchards, which are cultivated in the central region of the Republic of Moldova, were studied. High emphasis has been placed on the promotion of new varieties and sustainable cultivation systems that produce qualitative and healthy fruit in areas where the climate, soil and biocenosis correspond to the requirements of the cultivated species, and that are highly efficient economically as well.

The influence of postharvest calcium application in hydro-cooling water on physiological and biochemical parameters of sweet cherries of Kordia and Regina varieties

The influence of postharvest calcium application in hydro-cooling water on physiological and biochemical parameters of sweet cherries of Kordia and Regina varieties
LOZAN, Andrei
The short harvesting season together with the soft texture, limit the availability of high quality sweet cherries on the market for longer period. In order to have high quality fruits, it should be applied by farmers in the orchard, but has a higher absorption rate while application in the postharvest hydro-cooling water. The aim of following study was to investigate the influence of calcium chloride (CaCl2) added to hydro-cooling water on physiological and biochemical parameters of Kordia and Regina sweet cherry varieties. The research was carried out in 2020. The tested CaCl2 concentration in water at 0o C was 0,2%; 0,5%; 1,0% and 2,0% where the sweet cherries were immersed during 5 min. After hydro-cooling, fruits were stored in modified atmosphere packages produced by Stepac, Israel for 2 and 4 weeks. It was established the gases and atmosphere balances in packages and the organoleptic, physiological and biochemical parameters of fruits. The increase of Ca content in hydro-cooling water in comparison to control showed improvements in weight stability, acidity, firmness, soluble solid content and vitamin C with the best results at 0,5% and 1,0% CaCl2 content. Pedicel browning was reduced by CaCl2 at 0,2% and 0,5%, but presented higher effect at 1,0% and 2,0%.
